大音稀聲，可有不同的解釋。
我偏向這一解：即洪大的聲音，响聲不多，越少越好，越見洪亮。
這可由雷聲、鐘聲、鼓聲獲得證明。
如雷聲之洪亮，一二聲足矣，如連打二三十聲，反而不覺得洪亮了。
鐘聲和鼓聲亦如此，响聲不可多，越少越見洪亮。

The idiom Dà Yīn Xī Shēng may have several explanations. I favor the following: Loud sounds require few strikes; the fewer the number of strikes the greater the volume of sound seemingly produced. The rumble of thunder, the tolling of bells and the beats of drums all testify to this. It takes only a couple of claps to give thunder its impressive roar, not twenty or thirty. The same applies to bells and drums: the fewer the strikes the more powerful and resonant the sound.

冥想的時候會用“大音希聲”來表達。看到混沌初開的宇宙，「嗡」的迴繞，沒注意聽會以為沒聲音。當音樂進入我的身體，而我的身體進入音樂的時候，我化為粒子，聽不到音樂，卻享受它，宇宙一味，同體大悲，大音希聲，萬分感激，難以言喻。

I would use Dà Yīn Xī Shēng for a state of deep concentrated thought.
This idiom reminds me of the chaos at the inception of the universe, encircled by “buzzing” sounds that one misses when not paying sufficient attention.
As music infiltrates my body, and my body is fusing with it, I take the form of a speck of dust, incapable of hearing music yet capable of enjoying it. Music brings a unified universe, the sound of silence, deep gratitude, and feelings that language cannot express.
